Where Are They Now?
We have a lot of time for all the DJ’s who’ve passed through our DJ Spotlight, so it’s always pleasing to see them do well.
And you don’t get much better (we were gonna say ‘weller’ but the laptop nearly caught fire) than
DJ Magazine describing your sound as
“deep and funky, blended with some serious skill”, then forwarding your mix CD to possibly the most glamourous club in the world,
Pacha - who in turn like it so much they immediately book you for a gig on
21st August.
The longest running of all the Ibiza super-clubs,
Pacha Ibiza first opened their doors in 1973 with the mission statement being simply “great times for gorgeous people” and, as regular visitors to the hallowed Pacha dance-floor include the likes of
Kate Moss and
Jade Jagger, it appears that the statement remains true to this day.
Big congratulations are in order then to
Clarke Kent, and in order to hear the mix that woo’d both DJ Magazine
and Pacha, look no further than
Boo025 – Clarke Kent .
That then got us wondering what all the other Spotlight DJ’s have been up to since speaking to us. Here’s a quick roundup:
Boo037 – J Latham
Goes from strength to strength – still resident at Plush (every Saturday at Relish) and Studio One11, we last saw him taking the roof off Club V last Friday. Check out the pix
here. What the photos can’t tell you but we can, is that he played a couple of his own tracks and go down well, they certainly did… oh yes.
Boo028 – Rosie Romero
Has been spinning the platters for
Miss Moneypenny’s @ BCM Majorca, returning there in August and September. Then not one, not two but three of her trax (
Nyt Bird, Dulcet Tone and
Bad Girl) have just been signed. Did we, or did we not say this was a star in the making?!
Boo020 – Dale Castell
Not content with being possibly the hardest working DJ in the North West, he recently started his own night,
Short Circuit at the region’s only superclub,
Mission. Check out the pix
here. Look out for him at
I Love Leeds and
Back2Space
Boo017 – Richie Franklin
Continues to surprise with his versatility- from the uplifting vocal house he spins for Plush on a regular basis, to the Gatecrasher-esque arms-in-the-air PVD-eat-your-heart-out summer 2008 mix…. We said before and we’ll say again, this is one to watch.
Boo015 – Paul Spencer
Flow celebrated their
5th Birthday on Saturday 2nd August. 5 years of the finest, and we mean
finest vocal house entertaining the lucky denizens of Manchester. Check out the pix
here.
Boo008 - Alan Hartley
Plays
Creamfields on 23rd August . Do you like the casual way in which we announced he’ll be mixing it up at the
10th Anniversary of a dance institution? We’ll be there – you would be crazy not to.
